5Control Your Pet’s Heart Rate:

In order to measure your pet’s heart rate, you will need a free hand, a watch, stopwatch, or your smartphone. For cats, place your hand on the cat’s chest, the area behind the elbow. Count your cat’s heartbeats for 15 seconds and multiply the result by 4. Another way to monitor your cat’s heart rate is to put two fingers on the inside of their groin to feel the pulse. Remember that the normal heart rate for cats is 140-220 beats per minute.

To keep track of your dog’s heart rate, place the palm of your hand on your dog’s chest, just below the armpits. The normal heart rate for dogs ranges from 70 to 120 beats per minute, depending on the size.
